I have to confess something: I am not a born fundraiser.
As a new executive director I was thrust into fundraising because the board members who held that responsibility just, you know, didn't feel like doing it anymore. And no one else on the board would take it on.
When I started fundraising, I just barreled through, relying on my org's long history for my success. Before you think, "Oh she had it made--a company with a long history. Must've had tons of long-time donors to choose from," let me tell you the problem I ran into. People weren’t excited about what I had to offer! They had become disillusioned and felt taken for granted. You know that saying, familiarity breeds contempt? Well it had played out with my org big-time, and I had to do something to get our fundraising back on track.
Thanks to what became this 5-step process, I took our company from a $30k deficit to a $22k surplus in one year. Raising 50% of the sponsorship funds we needed in 4 months.

- Resource list to help with mindset
- Video of a live branding consultation with an arts organization
- Video of a live branding consultation with a social service organization
When new features release, the price goes up accordingly, so the earlier you join our online classroom, the more budget-friendly for you and your organization.
- Developing a success mindset
- Matching your brand with likely donors
- Crafting a strong prospect list
- Making those first contacts
- Building and sustaining momentum
Each video is downloadable and runs less than 10 minutes. The accompanying workbook helps you keep track of your notes and follow along with the lessons. This course also includes two bonus videos in "Step 2" so you can watch me walk an arts organization and a social service organization through the process.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Quickly identify qualified prospects -- no more trying to sell to the "unsellable"
- Approach them with confidence, offering a valuable service instead of "begging" for money
- Close them with ease, knowing you brought them as much value as they are bringing to you
I can't guarantee you'll have the same results that I did--other factors may be at play for you--but this will give you a format, a path to follow, to raise the money your organization needs. My greatest hope is that by the end of this course and by the time you have put it into practice, you will actually enjoy the fundraising process!
Your Instructor
Most of the people I work with are on the verge of burnout. They’ve given everything to their organization at the expense of their own health, their personal life, and their sanity. Be honest, do you ever look at your mission statement and wonder how it relates to today’s endless crises? Or leave every board meeting with a long to-do list and no one to help get it to-done?
Yes, you LOVE your work! You make a difference in people’s lives! Just, you know, not so much your own.
And that’s why I’m here–to get you back to that place of loving what you do while making a living.
As a consultant with 25 years in the nonprofit trenches, I work with arts and social service leaders who want to:
- Increase their organization’s capacity to fulfill their mission
- Enjoy productive relationships with donors, and
- Communicate effectively with their board and staff
Get practical guidance from someone who’s lived where you live. Whether you need to build capacity, build a board, or build a life, you can put down the match because I’m here to light the way.
When you work with me, you’ll get access to my 25 years of board development, strategic planning, and donor relations experience. As we work together, I’ll encourage you to manage your stressors, uncover time and money resources you didn’t know were there, and improve communications with the people who can help you the most.
By the time we’re finished you’ll feel more confident in your direction, gain clarity about how to implement the work, and work in harmony with a team as energized about the mission as you are.
